We are having the busiest September ever in Life Saver history. A combination of some warmer fall weather, increased pool safety awareness, increased pool fence knowledge by the public, and strong late-season marketing has led to an unprecedented extension of the season. Let's keep it up and see how far we can go.

We now have the cutest Life Saver bear magnets, perfect for any fridge. Leave one of these at every estimate and be sure to have a lasting impression.

Each Life Saver Bear Magnet is only $3.95. Order them in the Misc. box on the pool fence Order Form in the Dealer Center or select them as the last part on the list in the Parts Order Form.

Coming Soon: Two new styles of Life Saver Shirts.

Thanks for reading!

And Remember: Creative fridge magnets are one of the most effective marketing tools ever. Everyone loves a free gift and no one throws away a magnet. Your magnet could be seen a few hundred times a year and be the conversation starter for your customers to refer you. Name recognition and awareness are both increased.

Don't forget that we are closed on Fridays until February.

What a great year for pool fence. New pro-barrier laws being passed for residential swimming pools, acceptance of removable pool fence by the Southern Building Codes, increased public awareness nationally, public figures speaking out for necessity of pool fence, we couldn't ask for more!

For most veteran dealers, this year has been one of the best yet for sales and profits. Our overall growth was steady for the year with a 22% increase in volume. We had a "push" on in 2000 for an increase in new market areas. As a result, a number of new dealers joined the Life Saver family this year. We are happy to say that a few have already achieved marked success for their first season's efforts and are looking forward to the next season without any doubt for success.

We had a few system changes this year, like email invoicing and how your orders are processed. The increased use of the online ordering system has decreased the number of errors in ordering and shipping to as near perfection as I think we will see.

Internally, production flow changed, responsible lead personnel changed, and lead times for delivery never exceeded 6 working days (versus 10 days in 2000). Quality was up and shipping errors went down to almost none. All of this combined has helped cut our operating costs. What does this mean to you? For one, it means that even with the increased cost of raw materials, insurance, and labor - the current price schedules will remain in force for another year and hopefully beyond. It also means that you can get the product in time to satisfy your customer requirements. Your scheduling is easier and predictable, giving you better control over your own time and expenses. Most of all, it means you get the very best product we can produce consistently from order to order. The kind of quality you and your customers have come to expect from us.

Quad-Stitch Border has become the new standard on all models of fence. All production machines have been upgraded to provide this new improvement. Triple-Stitch will no longer be available effective this date. Please be sure to incorporate this new product enhancement into your sales presentation. Crush the competition and their puny 2 stitch systems. We have invested thousands to upgrade all the machines and will incur 12k a year in increased thread cost, so do be sure to include this superior feature in your sales presentation. What is the name of that thread we use now? Aqualon Marine Gold - for UV and exterior applications, it doesn't get much better than this stuff.

There is a new invoice delivery system! All invoices will now be sent out by e-mail.

If you don't already have it, you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view your invoices. You can download it at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

No more fishing through stacks on paper and envelopes. No more dealing with the post office. No more waiting on an invoice. Easier record keeping. The benefits are many.

If you need help downloading anything, just give me a call.

The Discussion Center's gone. The Advanced Ordering form is here! It's for standard sections only and is much quicker for more seasoned distributors with a firm knowledge of the model system. It's also far easier for ordering multiple models at once. Just replace "How many?" with your number of sections, choose your model from the drop-down list, and you're done. If you guys prefer it to this form, I'll put it on the home page and give the standard form its own page. Let me know.

I've written a short tutorial on using the order form to avoid any future confusion. You can access it by clicking Help at the top, or by clicking here.

Effective September 1, 2000

New prices will be going into effect on 9/1/00. Some prices are down and a
number have increased based on inventoried aluminum costs together with new mill orders and related increases.

We made it through the season with the early stock orders for aluminum we
purchased at the beginning of the year. We have depleted the majority of
that inventory. Now we have to adjust for aluminum increases that have
occurred throughout the season. The largest increases affecting finished
product (5 to 6%) are on models using Quad-X powder coated poles. This takes into account the aluminum increases and the actual costs related to in-house powder coating versus the 10% we reduced prices in February on these products.
Models E and EB have been discontinued due to lack of demand for this height
fence (4 1/2 foot). Models F and FB (5 foot) are still popular and have both
come down in price. The 3 1/2 foot models have been extremely active this
year and are reduced in cost for powder coated models. These prices will
hold until we have exhausted previously purchased raw aluminum at this mill.
Worst case is 6 months and best case scenario is 9 months before we will
have to go shopping again.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for placing orders
through the email system this year. Although this method of ordering is new
to most, the success and impact of the program has been easily measured as
mutually beneficial. Email ordering has greatly reduced the problems which
were encountered with telephone orders. Improved efficiency and more
accurate ship dates provided with email responses has cut down greatly on
overhead and time spent trying to track orders and ship dates. It has
allowed you the flexibility to accurately schedule your jobs or flag a
problem immediately so that you have time to react accordingly. We will
continue to improve this system of ordering and confirmation of orders
during the winter. Any suggestions you may have are greatly appreciated.

Models E and F are three weeks out. --2.8.00

C, CB, D, and DB discontinued. --2.15.00

Dear Distributors:

With the New Year already under way, many of you have already jumped off to a great start. As with previous years, many of the quick starters followed the same plan. By doing early direct mailings and local shows they were able to generate immediate sales and leads.

We have taken care of our end by making sure that there are plenty of displays to go around for everyone. Again, my hat’s off to all of you that are participating in these shows. A problem arose last year with the way the displays were treated. Several of the original displays had to be thrown out because of their condition. At a cost of $2000.00 per display, this is no small expense. A great deal of care has been taken to make sure that we are providing a trade show quality display. A new usage plan for the displays will be in effect immediately. A small fee of $100.00 will be charged for the large stand up display and a $50.00 fee will be charged for the table top displays. Along with the usage fees the shipping charges will also become the responsibility of the Dealer. If you choose not to pay the small premium to insure the packages then all expenses should the package become lost or damaged will be yours. The stand-alone must be insured up to $4000.00. Please insure the displays. The displays are being booked up quickly so call us if you have a show date. Also let us know which display will be needed.

We have made many efforts in the past year to upgrade the quality of our fencing. The new powder coating facility has improved the appearance and durability of our poles and moldings drastically. Our efforts have resulted in keeping your fence costs down for another year. With orders flying in at a rapid pace, please make sure that you check our lead times on the Internet regularly. We will work hard to maintain lead times of less than a week.

Have a great and healthy 2000.

Sincerely,

Ivar

We've moved to 1085 SW 15th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33444, Units 3 and 4. It's been rough, but we're on track. For those of you in other states, a graphical representation has been provided at the top of this paragraph. Pretty cool, huh? (You can even see the back of Robert's motorcycle, a sleek Honda Shadow, sitting in front of the van. Vroom!)
